Malawi union for informal sector (MUFIS) has encouraged its members to be organized and be cooperated in their activities for them to achieve their goals and visions of their union.
This has been said by the president of MUFIS, comrade Ken Williams Mhango during an organizing workshops which was held at Chilumba Hangalawe, Mwentete and Miyombo zone in Karonga district.
Mhango encouraged members to be active in cooperative because by doing so, the organization is feeding the country from different food products they grow in the cooperatives and they must know that by feeding the country on the other hand, the members are contributing much to the development of the country.
In his words Mhango used Chitipa as one district which is doing very superb in terms of cooperatives and how the membership is growing simply by seeing the fruits of the union and its cooperatives.
The workshop brought together leaders of the organization at the branch a well as members of the branch of which members had opportunity to raise their concerns and ask questions as well as sharing ideas which at the end all members tied on one thing of organizing and do anything to make the union grow.
When talked to Victoria Simfukwe, she said that “I learnt a lot good new things from the facilitators especially what is organizing and now I am empowered with new knowledge”
Executive General Secretary said they MUFIS has lined up a lot of different trainings to reach out its members throughout the country and the facilitators will come from MUFIS and outside organization if need be. He said that a lot of members are learning new things and more people are joining as members of MUFIS.
“We will continue giving services to our members both new and old” said the Executive General Secretary.
